Unlocking the BBC World Service archive

After colleagues extracted metadata from World Service Radio's english-language archive, a project was initiated to crowd-source improvements via the BBC audience.

The result was a web app built using Ruby on Rails, that allowed users to serach and listen to programmes in the archive, viewing the machine-generated topic tags and correct them if necessary.

As the front end developer on this project, I wrote all the CSS and JavaScript, implementing a responsive media player after finding nothing suitable available. I also implemented server-side features in Ruby on Rails.
